Instead of using the dryer in the summertime, hang clothes outside in the warm sunshine. The sun can really make your clothes smell incredible. They’ll be smelling much fresher than if they were just dried in a dryer. Additionally, you will see a noticeable decrease in your utility bills.

There’s lots of ways to reduce energy when you do laundry. First, turn on any moisture control settings, so the dryer powers down when laundry has dried. High-spin speeds reduce moisture and shorten drying time. Be sure to clean dryer filters and check for blockages in the dryer vent.

If you are purchasing new appliances, try to aim for Energy Star rated ones. The Energy Star rated appliance is guaranteed to use appreciably less energy than the older non-rated appliance. This rating guarantees 20% less energy for freezers and refrigerators, 40% difference for dishwashers, and 50% for washing machines!

Any business owner has a good idea of what electrical costs to a company are. Solar arrays can be a great addition to your business plan, while also offering a boost to your marketing strategy by entering the green business arena. Many companies have been rewarded by an increase in business because they try to be green. Over time, the extra business you get by going green will help pay off the solar panels.

Install a toilet that uses less water. Estimates show that about 50% of your home’s water is used by flushing toilets. A water-saving toilet cuts that by about 70 percent.

If it’s feasible, replace old, leaky windows with energy-efficient models. There are several benefits in using these windows, including a decrease in energy bills and less condensation on the windows.

Be socially responsible, and unplug electric chargers for all devices that don’t need immediate charging. Even if you are not charging your laptop, cell phone or mp3 player, just having it plugged in uses energy.

Pay attention to any federal or local rebates offered for making alternative-energy updates to your home. Local utility companies may even offer rebates or other assistance with upgrades. In some cases, there could be credits or tax deductions either from the federal or state government. The combination of rebates and tax credits will make it much more affordable to install green energy systems.

An easy way to cut energy costs and go green is to dress warm. By simply putting on a sweater, you can improve your heated temperature by between 2 to 4 degrees. Wearing slightly heavier clothes is not any less comfortable and can save you significant money.

As stated above, green energy is a political topic that is getting more and more important since cheap oil is being phased out. When you’re knowledgeable, it is easy to go green. Use the advice from this article so you can start enjoying the greener life today!
